Hop on board the Real Ale Train to enjoy a pint or a few whilst travelling through the High Weald!
Enjoy a train ride through the High Weald with friends and/or family whilst enjoying real ale and cider! We select local breweries and cideries from Kent and the surrounding counties for each train, regular breweries include Westerham, Cellar Head, Harvey’s, Pig & Porter and High Weald, we also get beers and ciders from other parts of the United Kingdom too, many not usually seen in Kent!
Your on-board experience is approximately two and a half hours long and our bar carriage will also have a selection of hot beverages, soft drinks and snacks for you to purchase during the journey. It is is just £15 per person to travel in one of our open carriages, all tickets include a free first pint per person!
Did you know our Tunbridge Wells West station is located just a pleasant 15-minute walk from the mainline station on the line between Tonbridge & Hastings, with a great selection of pubs between the mainline and us you could enjoy a beer or two from a local establishment before or after your visit to us and leave the car at home!
Saturday 2nd & 9th April Real Ale Train
Our first Real Ale trains of the year on Saturday 2nd and Saturday 9th April will take place during our Scottish Steam events featuring Caledonian Railway No. 419 & No. 828 and there be real ales from Scotland available for you to enjoy on board the train! Real Ales on 2nd & 9th April – All Real Ales are from the Cairgorm Brewery, Aviemore, Scotland (828 is based at the Strathspey Railway in Aviemore!)
Cairngorm Brewery Company is a craft brewery established in 2001, situated in the village of Aviemore within the Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands of Scotland.
- Nessie’s Monster Mash – 4.1%
Predominently malty but well hopped giving a satisfying fullness of flavour with an enjoyable lasting finish. - Sheepshaggers Gold – 4.5%
The best beer baa none! An exceptional continental style beer with good body and refreshing aftertaste. - Cairngorm Gold – 4.5%
A golden coloured, light bodied continental style beer. Saaz hops provide an initial fresh and zesty flavour with Styrian Goldings providing late aromas. - Black Gold – 4.4%
Multi-award winning beer. A Scottish stout with a wonderful rich dark colour. Smooth full bodied with subtle bitterness giving way to late sweetness and underlying roast barley hints. - Stag – 4.1%
Mahogany coloured with medium to light body. Challenger and fuggles hops are added plentifully giving initial bitterness which is then balanced by a caramel finish from the roast malts. - Trade Winds – 4.3%
Light golden in colour, with a high proportion of wheat giving a clean, fresh taste. The mash blends together with Perle hops and elderflower providing a bouquet of fruit and citrus flavours. - Wildcat – 5.1%
Deep amber in colour with a complex malt and fruit flavour and a delicate bitterness from Challenger and fuggles hops. Strong & distinctive. - Cairngorm lPA – 5.0%
A full on New World hop explosion. Citra and Williamette hops gives pine, tropical and citrus fruit aromas combining with subtle malt undertones to create a golden pale ale with a mouth watering finish.
Ciders on 2nd & 3rd April
Thistly Cross, Scotland’s leading cider producer. Situated in the beautiful East Lothian coast in one of the sunniest areas of Scotland, focused on producing fantastic tasting ciders!
- Thistly Cross Traditional – 4.4%
This is smooth, balanced and lightly sparkling with clean apple finish. Satisfying and sessionable. - Thistly Cross Whisky Cask – 6.7%
The perfect marriage between Scottish methods and Scotland’s favourite craft cider. We use single malt scotch whisky casks to give our cider it’s warming notes of oak, vanilla and honey. - Thistly Cross Strawberry – 4.0%
The strawberries in this cider are hand-picked and pressed, resulting in a lip-smackingly tasty, naturally sweet thirst quencher. - Thistly Cross Ginger – 4.0%
We add fresh root ginger at two stages of the cider making process for an authentic flavour that drives ginger lovers wild! - Thistly Cross Elderflower – 4.0%
We create an infusion from hand-picked British Elderflowers and blend it with our cider for a fabulously fresh and floral flavour. - Thistly Cross Cloudy – 5.5%
Cider is naturally cloudy, so we’ve let nature take its course. This crisp and beautifully balanced, medium dry cloudy cider is packed full of unfiltered goodness.
What’s included in the £15 per person ticket price?
- Two return train journey’s to Eridge, departure from Tunbridge Wells West is at 19:00, returning between 21:30 and 22:00.
- Travel in our 1960’s heritage coaches.
- First pint of ale included in the ticket price per person.
- Access to the bar throughout the evening to purchase other drinks and light refreshments.
