Discover Dog-friendly attractions in Kent

We all love walking our dogs and Kent is full of beautiful green and tranquil spaces just perfect for exploring with your four-legged friend. Here are a few suggestions for different places you can take your dog around the delightful county of Kent.

The Spa Town of Royal Tunbridge Wells

There are plenty of great places to take your dog for a walk in Tunbridge Wells

Tunbridge Wells is full to the brim with picturesque parks and spaces to let your dog roam free. Dunorlan Park, Calverley Park and Grosvenor Park are just a few of the delightful scenic parks with amenities.

Tunbridge Wells Common is an attractive open space adjacent to the Town Centre.  With its wooded areas, open green spaces, the famous Wellington Rocks and spectacular panoramic views over the Weald, this is a haven for curious, energetic dogs and their owners alike!

Take a stroll down to the famous Pantiles where you will find lots of cafés to enjoy a coffee or bite to eat.  The Pantiles Cafe allows dogs inside while you enjoy a coffee, cake or a delicious lunch.

On days when trains are running you can take your dog on the Spa Valley Railway which offers travel between Tunbridge Wells West and Groombridge. You can hop on and off at different stations all day as fares include all day travel and dogs travel for free.  The station is just 5 minutes’ walk from the Pantiles.

Dogs love to explore new places and we have an ideal green space right here in the centre of town. The Tunbridge Wells and Rusthall Commons provide an extensive area of discovery for sniffing out new smells and meeting friends.

Your dog has a sense of smell which is 10,000 – 100,000 times more acute than that of humans. That makes the 200 acre Common a very exciting place if you have a wet nose and a wagging tail.

Dunorlan Park, ideal for walkies, has lots of woof factor. This beautiful park with its large lake is a tranquil haven perfect for walking with your canine companion. It is located within a short walking distance of the town centre. Dogs are welcome if kept under control and aren’t allowed to disturb the wildlife or other visitors.

Whether you decide to walk or run along the path around the lake, it’s a great way for the two of you to exercise, keep fit and set tails a-wagging.

With three entrances to the Grosvenor and Hilbert Recreation Grounds with its Nature Reserve, dogs are welcome if kept under control and aren’t allowed to disturb the wildlife or other visitors.

Royal Tunbridge Wells is THE gateway to your outdoor activities.

Take the Spa Valley steam train from Tunbridge Wells West Station and alight at any of the stations to enjoy a walk before taking a return train back to your starting station. Dogs can travel on the trains for no extra cost.

The stations at High Rocks, Groombridge and Eridge all provide access to the countryside and a network of footpaths including the Tunbridge Wells Circular from where it is possible to walk to Harrisons Rocks, the Forest Way and Broadwater Forest.
