The High Weald AONB is one of England’s finest landscapes – a historic countryside with a surprise around each corner. Rolling hills give ever-changing views as you walk from ridge-top to secluded valley; through shady woods and fields of grazing animals - passing tile-hung and weatherboarded farms and cottages along the way. The angular patterns of orchards, awash with blossom in spring, contrast with the smooth outlines of the area’s abundant woodland and the gardenesque feel created by the historic houses and estates.  Follow a sunken lane and you will be treading in the steps of Saxon drovers and their pigs!
