The Pantiles is the oldest part of the town and was once the playground of Georgian royalty and the aristocracy who came to enjoy the reputedly healthgiving Chalybeate Spring water which visitors can still enjoy today. The Tourist Information Centre on the Pantiles can advise on how to make the most of any visit to the area.

The Assembly Hall Theatre is a 1,000 seat theatre hosting a range of shows from family favorites to classical music, legendary musical performers, popular comedians, dance events, top West End musicals & drama, and not forgetting the annual pantomime. The theatre is a much loved and valued cultural asset in the heart of the town and this year it is celebrating its seventy fifth anniversary with a series of events spread over the year. The Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery shares the special story of the Borough of Tunbridge Wells. Set in the countryside of the Weald of Kent, the town of Royal Tunbridge Wells grew from the discovery of the spa waters in 1606. The Georgian ‘den of iniquity’ eventually became the byword for Victorian respectibility.Come and enjoy our outstanding collections of costume, art, dolls and toys. We also have excellent natural and local history, from dinosaur bones to the original ‘Pantiles’.
