Marle Place Gardens and Gallery

An extensive, peaceful and privately owned Wealden garden. Cared for and enlarged by the artist and tree loving occupants of 40 years. Victorian and Edwardian features, a gazebo, rockery and Italianate scented garden, blend with modern planting and planning, including a mosaic terrace. Within the yew hedged kitchen garden a restored Victorian glasshouse holds an exotic display of orchids.
Glorious fresh Spring colour is followed by the scent and abundance of midsummer shrub roses, annuals and perennials. Autumn’s spectacular leaf colour, displayed by a huge variety of trees old and new, and the sparkle of herbaceous borders close the season. Encircled by ancient woodland, a stream and ponds, all managed with wildlife in mind. Enjoy the background of birdsong and a chance to see a wonderful variety of native flora and fauna. The gardens have won many conservation awards. Sculpture and land art can be seen throughout the grounds. In the studio and Gallery there are exhibitions of work by contemporary artists. Allow 1 to 2 hours for your visit. Guided tours can be arranged.
