Chiddingstone Castle

Chiddingstone Castle is a stunning country house near Edenbridge with a fascinating collection of exotic antiques and antiquities.
Set in 35 acres of beautiful grounds, with a lake, rose garden, woodland and award winning orangery, this attractive country house dates from 1550s.
Revived from dereliction in 1955 by the gifted antiquary Denys Bower, the castle became a home for his amazing and varied collections. Denys amassed a stunning array of Japanese armour, swords and lacquer as well as Egyptian antiquities, beautiful Buddhist artefacts, Jacobean manuscripts and Stuart paintings, which are well worth a visit.
The Castle hosts a variety of themed events throughout the year and can be hired for functions and weddings.

The Tea Room and Gift Shop are open during the same times, and admission to these does not require an entry ticket to the Castle. You will find below some of the Special Events that we have planned for the year. We welcome pre-booked groups and school visits at any time throughout the year, be it the open or closed season. Pay us a visit - you'll be surprised how much we have to offer!
Chiddingstone Castle welcomes groups and schools and a visit to the new Servants' Hall and Bedroom can be arranged for groups over 10.
