The historic spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells makes an ideal starting point for visiting the Seven Wonders of the Weald. Just 50 minutes by train from London and Hastings, and within easy reach of the main road routes in the South East, Royal Tunbridge Wells offers the visitor a fine selection of restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as a wide range of unique independent shops, antiques outlets, designer collections and high street brand names.

The Pantiles, the oldest part of the town, was once the playground of royalty and the aristocracy during the Georgian era, who came to enjoy the reputedly health-giving Chalybeate Spring water – still served to visitors today by a traditional ‘Dipper’. The pretty colonnaded walkway in the Pantiles, the old High Street, and the town’s attractive Victorian and Regency architecture offer visitors of today a unique atmosphere of history, style and relaxation.

Visitors can learn all about Royal Tunbridge Wells on a guided walking tour of the town held every Thursday and Saturday morning (March to December) starting from the Tourist Information Centre.

The Seven Wonders are just a short distance from Royal Tunbridge Wells. Combining a visit to Royal Tunbridge Wells with one, two, three or more of the Seven Wonders makes for a varied and entertaining day out or short break. Staff at the Tourist Information Centre in the Pantiles can advise on how to make the best of any visit to the Seven Wonders and to Royal Tunbridge Wells.
